Former Saints pitching ace, 25 year old ANTHONY SHUMAKER of Kokomo
made his Major League pitching debut on Friday nite, July 24th, for the Philadelphia Phillies in Philly.
Scheduled as the starting pitcher in game two of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves
SHUMAKER pitched 8 complete innings... he was pulled for a pinch hitter with the Phils down 2 to 1.

SHUMAKER gave up only 5 hits, including the Braves only run through 7 innings
which was a 1st inning Homer... he recorded 5 strikeouts, but suffered the loss
as the Phillies went down 3 to 1 to Atlanta.

As TBS Superstation play by play announcer Pete Van Wieren stated..
"Shumaker showed great composure for a rookie in his pitching debut and is
still considered a prize prospect with 94 STRIKE OUTS in 116 innings of Triple-A ball".
